New Hope for Treatment-Resistant Depression

If you struggle with treatment-resistant depression, there’s new hope in the form of ketamine and NAD+ infusions, available at Klarity Life. Under the direction of Dr. Henry Liang, ketamine and NAD+ is giving patients in Las Vegas a new lease on life.

What is depression?

Lost, Hopeless, and Relentlessly Sad

Depression may feel like one of the loneliest conditions on the planet, but it’s also one of the most prevalent. Depression is a mental disorder that leaves the sufferer feeling lost, hopeless, and relentlessly sad. Depression manifests in several ways, including:

Major depression

If you have symptoms of depression every day for more than two weeks, and they have a significant impact on your ability to function normally. This is classified as a major depression.

Persistent depressive disorder

If you suffer from symptoms of depression, which may come and go, for more than two years, you likely have a persistent depressive disorder.

What are the signs of depression?

Common Symptoms That Signal Depression

Depression affects people differently, so there’s no clear-cut checklist when it comes to figuring out whether you or a loved one is suffering from the disease. That said, there are some common symptoms that signal depression, such as:

  • An overwhelming feeling of sadness and hopelessness
  • Fatigue
  • Loss of interest in activities you used to enjoy
  • Trouble concentrating
  • Sleep issues (either too much or too little)
  • Weight fluctuations
  • Irritability and restlessness
  • Suicidal tendencies

This last symptom is one that’s worth underscoring. Suicidal ideation is when you think about, or even plan, ending your own life. Thoughts of suicide should be taken very seriously and you should seek medical counsel right away.

How does ketamine help depression?

When Other Treatments Fall Short

Many of our patients have tried traditional or even invasive treatments for depression with little improvement in their symptoms. These prior treatments may include a variety of medications and psychotherapy. Some have tried costly transcranial magnet stimulation (TMS) or memory erasing electroconvulsive therapy (ECT).

Ketamine infusion therapy offers new hope for patients who have failed or had limited improvement with other treatment avenues.

Careful Monitoring

Studies have shown that ketamine works by rapidly increasing levels of the largest neurotransmitter in the brain; Glutamate. Glutamate is the most important neurotransmitter for normal brain function. Additionally, ketamine is thought to grow new (or repair damaged) neural connections, allowing the brain a chance to heal.

Under the careful monitoring of Dr. Henry Liang, you will receive a series of six intravenous low dose ketamine infusions over a two week period.

Adding NAD+

Restore Your Energy

Depending on your situation, the doctors may also add a NAD+ (nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide) therapy to enhance the results of the ketamine, restore your energy, and regulate your stress response. If you’d like to find out more about treating depression with ketamine, contact Klarity Life.
